I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Lindberg Models was one of the classic model companies in the US before the market shrank and was taken over by excellent and innovative overseas players. Back in the 1950s and 60s, the Pyro company created a series of dinosaur kits based on existing science. Looking at them today, we can see how far paleontology has come. Some of these look a little cartoonish, but even now we are changing our understanding of these long-extinct creatures. Museums today show a much more bird-like appearance to most dinosaurs, so who knows what we will “know” in the future. Fittingly, Pyro has been extinct for years and the molds passed through Life-Like Hobby Kits before ending up with Lindberg in the 1980s. This kit depicts a well-armored Ankylosaurus (despite the unfortunate misspellings on the box). There are a handful of these listed on eBay (some opened), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web: The Round 2 company has picked up the Lindberg line, along with several notable others (like MPC, AMT and Polar Lights). The Round 2 site doesn’t have a page for this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. Through other sources, I have found the following information about this kit: · Lifelike detail· Easy to assemble· Over 7” long and 2” high when assembled· Paintable (paint not included) Scalemates.com has a listing that shows this is a 2006 release (box says 2012) based on the classic Pyro tooling from 1966 that has been reboxed many times over the years under the Pyro, Life-Like Hobby Kits and Lindberg brands. They show the box art and release history as well as a very nice photo gallery of a finished diorama. This kit is in a colorful box about 12” x 7.5” x 2.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with 15 grey plastic parts to build one of these armored beasts. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
